FAQs

  • You can expect to see many species of marine invertebrates native to Nova Scotia's waters, such as sea stars, rock crabs, sea urchins, scallops and more!

  • The centre is busy throughout the season, but mornings tend to be quieter if you want to beat the rush.

  • Our main entrance facing the parking lot has a ramp leading up to it for wheelchair users. Depending on the size of your wheels, you may be more comfortable using our back entrance, which is level to the ground. If this is the case, our staff are happy to help you out. There are no steps inside the facility.

  • Yes! The parking lot just outside our building is also shared with Martins Park parking which is free and can be used for a maximum of 3 hours.

  • Yes! We have a ramp leading up from the parking lot to the main entrance, or you can use the back entrance, which is level to the ground. The interior is also stroller friendly. A washroom is equipped with baby changing stations for your convenience.

  • We have a bench near the tanks for anyone who needs to take a rest, as well as a table and chairs in the back under our tent. We also have small stools in the Kids Corner and there are seats near reception.

  • No, you’re welcome to stay and hangout with the animals as long as you please!

  • Yes! Our gift shop features many handmade items by local artists!

  • You’re welcome to take photos and videos for your personal use but we do not allow tripods or monopods for the safety of other visitors. We also ask that you please turn off your flash.

  • For the safety of our marine life, outside food or drinks are not permitted in the centre, except for a refillable water bottle (or for guests with medical conditions that need to eat at certain times). You’re welcome to leave the aquarium to grab a bite to eat and then re-enter. There is a cafe located across the parking lot.

  • Unfortunately, due to safety of our animals, we do not allow pets in the centre.
